I hand forge and form these leaf cuffs from jewelry grade, pure copper. No two cuffs are alike and each one will have it's own distinct variations as a result of the hand forging and finishing process. This is a custom made to order item. Please allow 1-2 weeks for fabrication and delivery.
Select your finish:
1. Bright Polish - I carefully polish the forged copper cuff to a bright shine. You can either choose to polish as necessary using a jewelry polishing cloth to maintain the finish, or allow the copper to darken and oxidize naturally.
2. Brushed Finish - A matte finish created by brushing and burnishing the finished cuff with an abrasive. You can either choose to polish as necessary using a jewelry polishing cloth to maintain the finish, or allow the copper to darken and oxidize naturally.
3. Flame Finish - This finish is a process of gently brushing the polished copper with the heat of the torch, resulting in warm colors - gold, orange, red. I seal this finish with several coats of a very durable ceramic clear coat to preserve the flame patina. This finish takes longer to complete as the clear coating must have several days time to cure.
We do not coat finishes 1 and 2 with any kind of sealant or lacquer, so they will take on a dark patina over time if left unpolished. Polish as you would silver with a simple jeweler's polishing cloth or jewelry safe polishing compound.
For sizing, first, determine your wrist size:
Use a flexible measuring tape measure and wrap it snugly around your wrist just below the wrist bone.
Mark where the measuring tape overlaps on your wrist.
Next, determine the fit you would like:
Consider how snug or loose fitting you want your cuff bracelet. Most cuff bracelets are intended to be worn snug around your wrist with a 1″ opening. If you prefer to wear your cuff loosely like a bangle, order up one to two sizes from your recommended size.
Regarding the health benefits of wearing copper:
While purely anecdotal, many people claim that wearing copper helps to provide relief for the symptoms of arthritis. I, myself have found it to help relieve my carpal tunnel wrist pain when it flares up. Many ancient cultures also used copper for dressing wounds and to promote healing of various skin conditions. This is not medical advice and in all circumstances it is best to consult with your Doctor. Wear copper for it's beauty and warmth. If it helps with your physical ailments, consider it a happy bonus.
Will it turn me green?
The natural interaction between the salts and moisture in your skin and copper may cause the copper to oxidize and leave a surface coloration on your skin, the degree of which depends on your personal body chemistry and environment. This coloration washes off with soap and water.
